How much tweaking does this need? Should I use all the sliders? How much needs fixed?

The stable of digital photo processing applications I maintain is staggering. Within each of those applications, the number of tools is bewildering and continues to grow. Do I need or want all of these tools? Why do I have all of them? Are they improving my photography or output? How much time do I spend learning them all and then learning all the new features introduced constantly?

I propose all of us and our photography would be better served by simplifying our workflow. We all spend too much time learning new things, new software, fiddling with new features, and grappling with more and more complicated workflows. We should spend more of that time refining our vision instead of constantly chasing the technology. The whole notion of post-processing tools has become horribly inverted. We seem to be serving the tools instead of the tools serving us.
