Printing With Awagami Papers
We’ve received several emails from this community over the last few months that indicated a desire for a hands-on workshop that provides guidance and opportunity to print on Awagami papers... all of them (or at least most of them). After a lot of discussion and correspondence, we think we’re ready.
From all of the input we’ve had, we’ve come up with something that’s a hybrid between our “Intro to Awagami” half-day workshop and our “Intro to Fine Art Printing” workshop. Bottom line, it’s probably not for those completely unfamiliar with printing, we’ll not be covering all of those essentials but we’ll be using the same format. Specifically a level-set on how to think about Awagami’s vast array of materials and their general properties. After that, immediately moving on to printing proofs and final prints of your images with one-on-one attention for each and every proof, evaluation, adjustments, and final prints.
Like all of our workshops, this will be a collaborative, intimate environment with only 4 other photographers all supporting, discussing, and striving to understand and help achieve each other’s artistic vision.
Strictly limited to four participants you can register over on the Les Picker Fine Art Photography site. These things tend to go quickly so if you have questions please shoot us an email.
So... why was this new workshop not on the list last week? We were waiting for a bunch of stars to align and they did so quicker than we thought. You know, sourcing materials, other outstanding not-so-solid commitments, etc, etc.
Introduction To Fine Art Printing
Both dates announced are sold out. As I was drafting this update yesterday there was one spot open and all of a sudden, gone. We’ve done this workshop for over a decade now and after long, long, debate, reflection, and contemplation we rather do 4 participants to do it the way we’d like it done. No, not one more. We would never be able to provide individualized care for each participant’s work.
So... if you were on the fence and would like to see another date opened up for 2024, please give us a shout-out. We’re right in the middle of finalizing the second half of 2024.
Advanced Awagami
We still have a spot open for the June 8th, 2024 Advanced Awagami and Display Workshop. As always, we’re glad to answer any questions to make sure this would be a good fit for your goals and aspirations.
To be one of those four attendees would mean adding my name the second the date appears. But where are you located, do I need a car, place to stay when class starts early in moaning, cost, are images already processed and you fine tune the process. Do you suggest particular type of images. How many potential ones would one bring? Some details would be great. Thanks
