More On Competition In Art
Les expressed a few thoughts on print contests in September. I ran across an interesting thought piece that advocated more competition among photographers that seemed a bit antithetical to us. Now here's a set of thoughts from Eden Maxwell, a community member and accomplished painter, who graciously gave us permission to republish a chapter from his book Artist Empowered.

Is It Bad Nikon Has Outsourced Lens Design?
It looks like Nikon is using Tamron lens designs. Is this bad? Probably not, but why does our initial gut make us feel like it is? Hasselblad has always outsourced its lens design and manufacture to Zeiss (and Schneider). Later all of it's lenses and bodies to Fujifilm which caused a bit of concern with Zeiss fans.
On that note Leica collaborates heavily with Panasonic on their newest cameras and has for quite some time. Is it okay to use Panasonic lenses on Leica mirrorless cameras?
Why does any of this make us feel a little uneasy? I don't think it's actually about the cameras or lenses. Is there an emotional component to this? What do you think?
For Our Australian Community Members
Inside Imaging is a website and free weekly newsletter for the Australian photo industry, including professionals and engaged enthusiasts, distributors, manufacturers and retailers.
How do we know about this site? Turns out the gentleman that runs it is a community member that asked us for permission to republish some of our SubStack essays. We checked it out and it looks like a great resource, so we thought anyone in that neck of the woods might want to check it out.
I love the camera photo 😻
