What is a Portfolio?

A photographic portfolio is a time-tested method of displaying your art, be it representative of your entire body of work or just one special project.

A portfolio can take many forms, from a simple file folder of prints (yes, I have seen that!) to a collection of fine art prints on museum-quality papers like those from Moab Fine Art Papers, presented in a hand-made box (that's what our clients produce at our workshops). In most cases, though, when we see portfolios at judging events, the artists present their work in commercially available portfolios, with prices all over the board.

Does it really matter what the portfolio presentation case looks like if the contained artwork is of high quality? Yes and no, as you'll see below.
