Photographers who print their images will inevitably be faced with the question of whether or not to coat their prints with a fixative agent. In this DIY I'll cover the issue of print fixatives on paper (not canvas), along with a link to a video demonstration of how to apply fixatives to your prints.

What is a fixative?

As applied to fine art prints, a fixative is a solution that serves to protect a print from environmental conditions such as oily fingerprints, dirt, and UV damage.

There are two categories of fixatives; sprays and liquids.
